We are recruiting on behalf of small locally based charity who is currently seeking a senior care assistant on a permanent basis to work in an elderly residential care home. Providing care and support for older adults.

 

Purpose of the job

 

To assist the Team Leaders and Manager in ensuring the home offers the service, which is able to meet the needs of the individual. You will hold direct responsibility for Care Assistants, Deputy Catering Manager, Trainees and Domestics.

Responsibilities of the Role

  • To work closely with the Team Leaders in all aspects of management of the home
  •  

 

  • To comply with all the requirements of the organisations policies, procedures and staff instructions, including responsibilities under the Health and Safety Policy and Procedures.
  •  

 

  • To be familiar with fire precaution and safety procedure relating to the establishment.
  •  

 

  • To actively promote and support the organisations Equal Opportunities Policy and to work in an anti-oppressive manner.
  •  

 

  • To supervise and attend to as necessary the personal, physical and emotional needs of residents.
  •  

 

  • To assist in the assessment of needs for each resident and develop and review individual care plans.
  •  

 

  • To deliver verbal and written reports to all staff on duty.
  •  

 

  • Undertake caring tasks necessary for the smooth running of the home.
  •  

     

    • To participate in staff meetings and training and development activities as necessary to ensure your skills and knowledge are up to date.
    •  

     

    • To supervise all staff to maintain the standards of the home.
    •  

     

    • Dispense medication and maintain the necessary medical records in accordance with the homes policy and procedures.
    •  

     

    • Liaison with doctors, hospitals, social workers, local organisations and relatives etc.
    •  

     

    • Ensure that all bedrooms and communal areas are cleaned and free of any unpleasant odours at all times.
    •  

     

    • Inform management immediately of any repairs and damages.
    •  

     

    • Report complaints to the Manager immediately.
    •  

     

    • To undertake other duties appropriate to the post as required by the Manager.
    •  

     

     

    Working Hours

Conditions

 

The hours are 40 hours per week and are worked on a rota basis which will include early, late, weekend and bank holiday working. You will receive double time for Bank Holidays worked and over-time is paid at the normal hourly rate plus time off in lieu. Uniform provided and all food and drinks free whilst on duty. Staff will receive 3% of their annual salary paid into a personal pension plan after two years service.

Salary is £14,352 per year.

 

 

Essential Skills Required

  • NVQ level 2 in direct care or be prepared to work towards achieving this NVQ.
  •  

 

  • An ability to motivate, supervise, develop and direct staff teams.
  •  

 

  • An ability to fulfil resident’s personal needs, draw up and deliver care packages.
  •  

 

  • An ability to pass and record information effectively, accurately and concisely.
  •  

 

  • To be able to make decisions and be adaptable to different work situations.
  •  

 

  • Have an understanding of the resident’s rights to confidentiality.
  •
