This job description is designed to provide clear objectives for the position of Team

Leader. The role is central in the delivery of quality services from the individual’s

point of view and as such the post holder must have a proven career record of

working with people with a learning disability for an extended period of time and also

be able to demonstrate quality experience within a senior role. In addition the ideal

candidate must hold an established, successful record of positive leadership and

effective management.

 

The Team Leader will be expected to be conversant with and personally committed

to the principles of citizenship and social inclusion, possessing the stamina and skills

to ensure effective consistent practice.

 

Service Objectives

 

The objective of the service is to provide a local, comprehensive, needs-led community based service for people with severe learning disabilities and additional special needs and which maximises their potential to make informed choices in their lives, in line with the Organisations strategic intent to be "The Customers Choice"

Job Description

 

  1. To attend and actively participate in meetings as delegated by the member of the Community Manager, to include management committee meetings where relevant, Open Agenda and team meetings.
  2.  

  3. Be responsible for all staff and volunteers within the service, ensuring all agreed standards are maintained. The responsibility for ensuring the organisations policies and procedures and standards of good practice are implemented at all times.
  4.  

  5. To ensure the development and maintenance of a professional and supportive relationship between the team, service customers, line management, colleagues and other involved parties. To provide professional line management support to the service team and outreach support teams.
  6.  

  7. To provide effective and enthusiastic leadership to the service team and at all times be an appropriate and positive role model to all staff working in the service.
  8.  

  9. To ensure that all staff have a clear understanding of the organisations policies, procedures and guidelines.
  10.  

  11. To ensure effective communication amongst team members to foster a positive team spirit
  12.  

  13. To hold responsibilities for all fire prevention, health & safety and security of their service.
  14.  

  15. To be the budget holder for the service, ensuring that this annual budget is maintained and controlled appropriately for the service and the people who live in it.
  16.  

  17. To be responsible for staff rotas and to ensure that staff understand the rota on which they work and any paperwork connected with their hours and salary.
  18.  

  19. To be responsible for service inductions for all new staff in addition to leading and managing in house training/external training as required.
  20.  

  21. To be able to administer medication and PRN inline with the agreed policy.
  22.  

  23. To ensure that the personal centred planning process is effective for each individual and their individual needs.
  24.  

 

Hours of Work

 

The Team Leader will normally work a 40 hour week on a rota basis including weekends, evenings, bank holidays and sleep in duties. However this role requires flexibility dependent upon the service and organisational needs. Part of these 40 hours will be "off rota" providing additional support to the service team. The Team Leader will also be expected to participate in the services on call rota with other senior members of staff

 

Qualifications and Additional

 

Ideally you will either hold or can demonstrate NVQ Level 4 in addition to RMA or Leadership and Management. Full driving license and own transport.
